Hearing loss warning to MP3 listeners
June 28 2010
According to a new study from researchers at Ghent University in Belgium, those who enjoy listening to their music on MP3 players could be more likely to be affected by hearing loss in the long-term.
They found that activities such as this can cause temporary changes in the sensitivity of a person’s hearing, which could result in problems further down the line.
Acoustic over-stimulation of the hair cells within the ear is said to be the part most vulnerable to this form of music listening.
However, we shouldn’t worry about this too much as the study was only done on 60 young people and we all know that playing music too loud and too often could eventually cause hearing loss or related problems.
